A warming & festive blend of Mulling spices paired with Adaptogens to create delicious drinks while also potentially supporting overall vitality, immune system, and cortisol.
Spices like Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger and Cardamom have are often worked with to increase circulation and bring warmth to the body. Especially important during the Winter months & longer nights. Our bodies can get sluggish with the shorter daylight & colder temperatures. These spices also often support balanced flow of emotions, as our dreams/goals/feelings can also feel stagnant during the darker days. This blend may also help to support immune function by direct anti-microbial action of many of the spices. Also anti-inflammatory & circulation stimulating.
Eleuthero & Schisandra are added as an extra ‘boost’ ~ helping to potentially support Immune function, energy levels/reduce fatigue, support Liver health {‘detoxification’ support} as well as support vitality + overall stamina.
Eleuthero may be helpful during times of stress, whether that be stress from the Holiday(s) shuffle & gatherings, stress from strenuous physical activites, stress from traumas/longings/grief that can arise during this Season, or stress from everyday life in the city, in late stage Capitalism & existing at this time. Essentially they are often supportive for physical, as well as mental/emotional stress. Rooting & also energizing. They are one I work with during times of acute stress vs. long term.
Schisandra are one of my favorite Plant kin, they may help to harmonize Liver function and promote smooth flow of energy through our entire body. Their flavor is unique, known as the 5 spice berry. They add a sour + spice to the blend.
INGREDIENTS: Schisandra, Eleutherococcus, Cloves, Cardamom, Star Anise, Cinnamon, Allspice, Orange Peel, Ginger
WORK WITH YULE ADAPTOGENIC MULLING SPICE:
Add 1 TSBP Mulling spice {more or less to taste} to 1L Apple Cider, bring to simmer, turn off heat & cover. Steep for 15-20 minutes. Strain & enjoy! I love adding a bit of Xálish Elderberry elixir to this recipe at the end {ex. 1 mug of Mulled Apple Cider + 1TBSP Elderberry Elixir}. Adding a bit extra immune support, as well as transitional + liminal space holding. And, just a delicious warming Winter drink!!
For gatherings, or festive treats, this makes a delicious Mulled Wine if you add a bit of sweetener and extra Oranges to the Wine. You can also add some dried Hawthorn to the cider or wine while steeping, yummm. Enjoy!
